INGREDIENTS:
Juniper Berry (juniperus communis)
Juniper berries are a good source of vitamin C, which is essential for immune health, collagen synthesis, and blood vessel function. It also acts as a strong antioxidant, protecting your cells from damage caused by unstable molecules called free radicals.
The berries also pack many plant compounds, including flavonoid antioxidants, volatile oils, and coumarins, which are chemical compounds with various protective properties. The volatile oils in juniper berries contain substances known as monoterpenes, including limonene, camphor, and beta-pinene. Monoterpenes have been shown to provide anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antioxidant, and antibacterial properties. Coumarins and flavonoid antioxidants also offer an array of health-promoting effects. Consuming a diet rich in these compounds can promote health and may protect against chronic conditions, including heart and neurodegenerative diseases.
Pomegranate Peel (punica granatum)
Pomegranate peels are high in antioxidants and polyphenols, and they’ve been shown to treat hyperpigmentation, a condition characterized by dark patches of skin. Pomegranate peels may also protect against ultraviolet B (UVB) damage and improve acne, signs of aging, and wound healing. It has been suggested that oxidative stress plays a role in the development of Alzheimer’s disease. Because pomegranate peels are high in antioxidants, they might help improve quality of life in those with this condition.
Hibiscus (hibiscus sabdariffa)
Some evidence points to hibiscus as having anti-cancer and anti-bacterial qualities. This evidence mostly consists of lab studies, but numerous animal and human studies show that hibiscus can improve heart health. Researchers point to anthocyanins as the compounds most responsible for the health benefits of hibiscus. Anthocyanins are plant compounds that act as antioxidants and that give some plants their red, blue, and purple colors.
Grapefruit Peel (citrus paradisi)
Grapefruit peel is rich in the soluble fiber pectin, which helps lower cholesterol and moderates the flow of sugar into your bloodstream after you eat carbohydrates. Extracts from the grapefruit's peel contain the well-known antioxidant vitamin C, as well as hesperidin and naringin, which are also antioxidants. Hesperidin and naringin belong to a group of plant-based chemicals called flavonoids. These phytochemicals may fight cancer by inhibiting the spread of cancer cells. Hesperidin, or hesperetin, shows potential to slow the growth of tumors in the gastrointestinal tract and pulmonary system.
Lemon Peel (citrus limon)
Lemon peel is packed with beneficial nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, and fiber, and each of them offers a range of health benefits. In fact, lemon peel is more nutrient-rich than the fruit or the juice. Likewise, it is very suitable to guarantee correct levels of alkalinity in the blood and cleanses our body. Excellent antiseptic and astringent, it helps us fight bad breath, eliminates excess oil on our skin, regulates blood pressure and strengthens our immune system. It is recommended for people with an inflamed liver, since it favors the metabolization of enzymes, decongesting and deflating it.
